Contemporary Stoves: Terms and Conditions

Terms & Conditions: Acceptance of our quotation/estimate is also an acceptance of our Terms & Conditions which are:-

In the following terms and conditions – we, our, us- Contemporary Stoves, and the company: refers to ‘Contemporary Stoves’

We reserve the right not to accept work after a quotation/estimate has been supplied.


Payment accepted by cash, bank transfer or cheque only

A non-refundable deposit, agreed at the time of the accepted quotation/estimate, is required on all orders placed. Typically 35% of the total cost

A further payment for the cost of the components required before fitting is required 7 working days before fitting

The balance of the quotation/estimate is due on the day of completion of the installation, completion of the job

The title of the goods remains that of Contemporary Stoves until the job is paid for in full  

We reserve the right to charge bank rate plus 5% per day (or part of) for overdue balances


Once an order has been placed, and deposit paid, we will advise approximate delivery and installation dates. If for reasons beyond our control these dates are required to be amended, we shall endeavour to notify the customer at the earliest opportunity, and provide alternative dates. We shall not be held responsible for any liability for any direct or indirect costs/losses as a consequence of the date change

In the instance where a customer requires the deferral of an agreed installation, Contemporary Stoves will in the first instance try to re-arrange to an agreed alternative date, subsequent delays will include a charge per day of lost labour, amount to be shown on original quotation/estimate

Footnote: Any building work/remedial work necessary to be undertaken prior to installation that is NOT quoted for or undertaken by Contemporary Stoves shall not be the responsibility of the company. If the customer is the organiser of these works then he/she bears the responsibility of completion of these works prior to installation. In this instance the works NOT due to be carried out by Contemporary Stoves will be listed on the quotation/estimate, so it is clear who is responsible. An example of this could be where a new chimney stack/flue is to be created by a builder employed direct by the customer


We require the customer to have the chimney/flue swept, if applicable, prior to a new/replacement stove being fitted by Contemporary Stoves. 

Every care will be taken when any agreed works quoted for or estimated, are carried out on the roof, however if the roof is in poor condition, (loose ridge tiles, rotten battens, loose or de laminated tiles or slates) Contemporary Stoves cannot be held responsible for further damage to tiles, slate, felt battens, lead etc.  

Due to constantly changing regulations it is the sole responsibility of the customer to ensure PRIOR to purchase that local regulations permit the installation of wood fired appliances at their post code (for example smokeless zones)

Where a new chimney/flue is required (masonry or prefabricated) the customer is solely responsible for seeking advice from the local authority that this is permitted and if necessary obtain planning approval prior to accepting a quotation/estimate for purchase and or installation. This also applies to Smokeless Zones, Listed Buildings, and Conservation Areas.  At no time will this be the responsibility of Contemporary Stoves and we shall not be held responsible in any respect for installations carried out without the required local authority approvals

Complaints procedure:

Please contact us in writing with your complaint, we will require your contact details so we can respond accordingly, along with the details of the complaint. You will receive a response within 14 days to allow us to correct the issue

Returns & refunds:

Please contact us immediately for a return address. Please return all components in the original packaging unopened as delivered to you from the place of origin. When we have confirmation from the suppliers or manufacturers all is good we can make the refund of all monies received within 28 days minus a restocking charge of 30%. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Damaged goods:

Please make sure before signing to accept the goods you make sure there are no damages to the goods, assuming there is, do not sign for the delivery, contact us immediately so we can arrange for a replacement item
